Officials at Northern Illinois University are launching a nationwide search for a new police chief. N-I-U says the search could take about three-months to complete. Acting Chief Darren Mitchell will be a candidate as well. Former Chief Donald Grady was fired last February for alleged misconduct.
Grady had been making $200,000 a year. He is accused of mishandling evidence in an investigation that involved a former campus police officer who allegedly sexually assaulted a student in October of 2011.
Grady denied the accusations.
