Following an investigation by the IHSA along with the Oregon School District, it was determined that a violation had occurred during the Solo and Ensemble Competitions during the past 2 years.
The problem dealt with students participating under the names of other students which is a violation of IHSA rules. Oregon School officials reported the violations to the IHSA prior to the investigation.
Oregon High School will now vacate their placement in state competition in the IHSA Solo and Ensemble contests during the past 2 years. This includes returning all trophies and placques.
All medals have also been collected from the students who participated under another name.
Superintendent Tom Mahoney was satisfied with the ruling from the IHSA.
Teacher Mitch Lauer remains on paid administrative leave from the district. He has also been banned from participating in any Oregon High School or other school during the IHSA Solo and Ensemble Contests for the next 2 years.
The Oregon High School music department will also be on probation for the 2013-14 school year.
