The replacement of 3 of the 7 tennis courts on the north side of the Helms Athletic complex in Rochelle has been delayed by a few weerks.
Park officials met in special session last night and learned about the delay in the bids. Park District Executive Director Eric Christensen said that drainage work was the reason for the delay. He expects the project to be completed by June 30th.
The work will also include surface repairs on the other courts as the project could cost around $200,000.
The board plans to approve the bid for the playground resurfacing work at Cooper Park when the tennis court numbers come in.
The appropriation ordinance was amended last night due to the recent purchase of the golf course property at $400,000.
Park officials also approved the 2 year contract for the 4 union maintenance workers. Key issues in the negotiations included money and benefits.
The workers will received a 35 cent increase per hour in the 1st year of the deal and 50 cents an hour in the 2nd year.
The park board did not go into executive session to talk about the lease of land or personnel.
