State Treasurer Dan Rutherford made a stop in Rochelle yesterday afternoon as he spoke to a group from the Kiwanis Club.
Rutherford talked about a number of topics during his presentation and also commented on questions from the Kiwanis Club members.
He wanted to make sure that everyone knew about the I-Cash program in which the state is holding money of unclaimed property such as savings or checking accounts, stocks, along with life insurance policies and safe deposit boxes.
Ogle County has over 15,300 property owners of unclaimed property that totals 2.2 million dollars.
He also said that his department can help the victims involving the flooding in the area over the last week.
The current interest rate this month is at 2.36%.
Rutherford also talked about the current budget problems in Springfield that lawmakers are faced with. He stressed that the pension issue is the top priority right now in Illinois.
