Illinois seniors are getting a slightly better deal on their property taxes. Governor Pat Quinn signed a law today raising the homestead exemption for Illinoisans ages 65 or older from four-thousand-dollars to five-thousand-dollars. The move could save seniors approximately 200-dollars a year on their property taxes. In Cook County, the exemption is now set at seven-thousand-dollars.
