A Rockton woman received a sentence of 50 years in prison yesterday in the murder of her newborn daughter in 2004.
Katie Stockton pleaded guilty in February to leaving the child known as "Baby Crystal" in a bag along a road near the family's rural home where the child froze to death in December of 2004.
In exchange of her guilty plea, prosecutors dropped the 11 remaining counts of murder.
Authorities say that "Baby Crystal" either suffocated or froze to death. She was wrapped in clothes and placed in the plastic bag.
The judge yesterday also allowed testimony about the discovery of the remains of 2 other children found in Stockton's car in 2009. No charges have been filed in those deaths at this time.
Authorities say that the 2 girls are "Baby Crystal's" sisters as each had different fathers.
