The Board of Trustees at NIU in DeKalb expect to announce today who the new president of the university will be.
The individual would be the 12th president at NIU.
School officials were looking for a replacement for 67-year old Dr. John Peters. He announced his retirement last October as he plans to step down from the position in June.
Peters has been president at NIU since June of 2000. He still plans to be involved in fund raisers for the university following his retirement.
His last day in June will give him 13 years as president at NIU.
