An Oregon woman suffered fatal injuries earlier this week following a crash on I-88 near Aurora between an SUV and a semi-tractor trailer.
Pronounced dead at the scene on Tuesday night was 46-year old Amy Luepkes.
Reports indicate that Patrick Garrison of Clinton, Iowa lost control of his vehicle east bound on I-88 near Route 56. The truck crossed the grass median and struck Luepkes' SUV in the west bound lane.
Both the SUV and truck burst into flames following the collision. The west bound lane of I-88 was closed to traffic for nearly 6 hours Tuesday night following the accident.
No tickets have been issued at this time. Garrison, who was not hurt in the crash, told police that his truck malfunctioned. Illinois State Police say that the investigation could take several weeks.
Luepkes is a 1984 graduate of Oregon High School.
A funeral service for Amy will be held on Monday morning at 10 at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Homes in Oregon. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 Sunday at the funeral home.
