Rochelle police arrested a Belvidere man early this morning on drug and weapon charges following a traffic stop in the Hub City.
45-year old Robert Thompson was arrested on the charge of unlawful possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia along with 2 counts of unlawful use of a weapon.
The arrest took place a short time before 2:30 this morning at 2nd Street and 4th Avenue. Thompson was originally stopped for disobeying a stop sign.
Local police seized under 30 grams of cannabis during the arrest along with a tazer gun and brass knuckes.
The Rochelle K-9 Unit assisted in the arrest last night.
Thompson posted the $150 cash bond on the charges and was given a court date of May 1st in Oregon.
