DeKalb County prosecutors have dropped their case against a second Northern Illinois University employee in the so-called "coffee fund" scandal. Susan Zahm had been charged for keeping the records for the scheme in which workers sold university scrap materials and kept the proceeds in a bank account for holiday parties and other social gatherings. Prosecutors dropped charges after deciding that Zahm was performing the functions of her job and was acting at the direction of superiors. Robert Albanase, a former NIU vice president, has pleaded guilty in the case and five other university workers face charges.
