The teachers strike in the Dixon school district is over.
Following negotiations that lasted nearly 8 hours last night and early this morning, a tentative agreement has been reached on a new 4-year contract between schools officials and the union.
The 168 teachers walked off their jobs on February 28th. Yesterday was the 9th day classes were canceled for students. The strike lasted 13 days overall.
Money, insurance, along with other benefits were the key issues in the new contract. The union was also concerend about class size.
The entire union along with the school board still need to approve the deal. Students are returning to the classroom this morning in the 5 schools in Dixon.
