Little progress in Dixon teacher's strike

Little progress was apparently made yesterday between Dixon school officials and the teacher's association as the strike enters it's 8th day.

The 168 teachers in the union walked off their jobs on February 28th at the 5 public schools in Dixon. The union has been working without a contract since last August.

Money, insurance, and other benefits remain the key issues in the new contract along with class size.

Students in the district next week may still take the ISAT tests even if the strike is still going. The exams may be given by administrators in the Dixon school district.

The next bargaining session is tomorrow at 1. This is the first teacher's strike in the Dixon school district since 1983.

This is the 6th day that students have been out of the classroom due to the strike. School would have been canceled on Tuesday due to the winter storm.
