The Rochelle City Council along with the Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District Board will meet in special session this evening at 5:30 as the discussion will center around the purchase of the golf course. The gathering will take place in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
The agenda includes an intergovernmental agreement between the city and park district along with a facility lease agreement with Gredco.
The golf course and restaurant has been closed since late last year.
City Manager David Plyman said that no action with be taken by the council tonight on the golf course issue.
The council will also meet at 5 to approve a CDAP grant for Project Golden Prairie. The business is a 350,000 square foot manufacturing facility. The company will have parts that will be used by Nippon Sharyo involving their rail cars.
The CDAP grant is for an electric feeder line to serve the facility.
The city had originally wanted the grant for a new well, water storage tank, and connector mains. The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity did not feel the water system improvements would be eligible for the CDAP program since the improvements would benefit the entire industrial area south of I-88 and not just 1 manufacturing facility.
Both special meetings tonight are open to the public.
