Rochelle Mayor Chet Olson is not giving up in his battle to lower gas prices in the Hub City in the future.
Local residents have seen an increase of over 70 cents a gallon for unleaded fuel during the past several weeks. Rochelle is normally anywhere from 10 to 20 cents higher at the gas pump than other area communities. Yesterday in the Hub City, the majority of businesses increased the price per gallon for unleaded fuel by 30 cents to $3.95. Early this morning, there was 1 business on the south side of town still at $3.69 a gallon for unleaded gas.
During this week's program "Let The People Know", Mayor Olson has a new plan dealing with the gas price issue. He wants local residents to contact the Governor's office, the Attorney General, along with their state representatives about this problem. He does have their phone numbers and e-mail information.
Olson also said that he has not received any cooperation with local state officials about the problem.
"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoons at 12:30 on Newstalk 1060 and re-broadcast Saturday mornings at 6 on Newstalk 1060 and Sunday mornings at 6 on "The Coyote", 102.3FM.
Next week's guest will be RTHS Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Kevin Crandall.
