A Poplar Grove woman plead not guilty in Ogle County court yesterday in connection with a home invasion incident that took place last December in Rochelle.
24-year old Melissa Christianson has been charged with 2 counts of the Class "X" felony offense.
Local police were assisted by authorities in Phoenix, Arizona in the case. Police Chief Eric Higby said that Christianson told officials in Arizona about the home invasion incident prior to her arrest.
The female victim suffered a cut to her throat during the altercation. A small amount of money was taken from her purse.
Rochelle police had also issued a warrant for the arrest of 34-year old Shundale Haney of Rochelle who was involved with the home invasion. He was killed during a high speed car chase in Texas.
In court yesterday, probable cause was found in the case as Christianson plead not guilty to the charges. She returns to court on March 11th in Oregon for a pre-trial conference after demanding a jury trial.
Christianson remains in jail in lieu of a $250,000 bond.
