Village officials in Creston has decided to complete the water meter project in homes this year.
Meters have been installed in about 40 homes so far. An additional 185 will be done this year at a price tag of around $55,000. Tipping fee money from the landfill will help pay for the cost of the project.
Board President Tom Byro said that the village officials wanted to get all the water meters installed in each home this year.
He also said that the village will see a savings once the project is completed.
The work is scheduled to begin this spring.
Village officials are also looking at upgrading the controls that run the water wells. They need to be replaced as the controls were installed in the 1980's.
Rebecca Von Drasek has been named the new Zoning Administrator for Creston. She currently works for DeKalb County. Von Drasek will be paid by the hour in the work she does for the village.
