The future use of the Helms Athletic Complex in Rochelle remains undecided at this time as park officials are looking at several options.
The major issue deals with the tennis courts. The park board has the option to renovate the current courts or go across the street on the south side of the facility and build 4 new courts. The price tag for each new court is around $40,000.
During this week's program "Let The People Know", Park District Executive Director Eric Christensen talked about a proposal for the north side of the complex if new tennis courts are built. Park officials are looking at a soccer complex for this area.
He also said that they plan to do some upgrades at the stadium so it can be used for more events. At the present time, the field is used for football and soccer.
