Congressman Adam Kinzinger of the 16th District paid another visit to Rochelle yesterday as he toured the Nippon Sharyo facility for the 1st time.
The 50 million dollar rail car complex opened in June and has over 300 employees. Nippon Sharyo currently has a contract with Metra in Chicago along with California, Canada, and Virginia dealing with close to 200 rail cars.
The company makes about 10 rail cars per month.
Congressman Kinzinger was very impressed with the size of the facility and the amount of steal.
He also said that he plans to work with Rochelle officials in the future for additional funding from Washington for new businesses that may come to the Hub City.
Nippon Sharyo officials say that they are hiring people within a 40 mile radius to work at Nippon Sharyo at the present time.
Congressman Kinzinger also took a tour of the Illinois River Energy ethanol plant off Steward Road on Thursday.
