For the 2nd time in the past 5 days, residents in Rochelle saw a sharp increase in gas prices.
The figure rose at the pump on Wednesday by as much as 16 cents a gallon for unleaded fuel.
During the past 10 days, the figure for gas in the Hub City has seen an increase by as much as 30 cents a gallon.
Prices vary this morning in Rochelle at the local businesses. The high price is on the south side at 1 business which is selling unleaded gas for $3.59 a gallon. Businesses on the north and east sides have a price tag of $3.55 while there is 1 business at $3.53.
Rochelle Mayor Chet Olson remains upset about the prices of fuel in the Hub City since they seem to be higher on a consistent basis than other communities in the area. He has contacted the Governor's office along with the Illinois Attorney General's office and the Illinois Commerce Commision about this problem.
