The Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District got some good news yesterday when they learned that state grant money will be available to extend their current bike path.
Governor Pat Quinn announced a nearly 50 million dollar investment in community transportation projects in Illinois. This includes $590,500 for the Rochelle bike path project.
Park district Executive Director Eric Christensen said that the bike path would extend from 20th street to Bee Bee Drive.
Christensen was a guest yesterday on the program "Let The People Know". He said the goal right now is to extend the bike path to Skare Park in the future.
The park district's cost was budgeted this fiscal year.
The city of Oregon will also receive $525,760 for their Historic District improvements.
"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoons at 12:30 on Newstalk 1060 and re-broadcast Saturday mornings at 6 on Newstalk 1060 and Sunday mornings at 6 on "The Coyote", 102.3FM.
