The Illinois State Board of Education is considering raising the bar on the Illinois Standards Achievement Test. If they make the changes, 3rd through 8th grade students would have to meet higher performance levels in Math, Science, and Language Arts when they test this spring. A spokesperson for the Board acknowledges that scores will likely drop under the new system but he also says the changes would better prepare student for college.
