City officials in Rochelle should have some final numbers next month or by early March dealing with the possibility of fiber being installed at homes in the Hub City.
The city is spending $35,000 to have a study completed to see if they want to get into the communication business and battle companies such as Comcast, Verizon, and Frontier.
There are around 36 hundred homes in Rochelle.
The Rochelle Utility Advisory board learned yesterday that both units are on-line at the Prairie State coal facility in southern Illinois. The city has received electrical power from the plant.
RMU is also looking at ways to change the electric peak requirements for industries in the Hub City.....
Construction for the Caron Road lift station is expected to begin late February. The water main installation project for 2nd Avenue will get underway in early April.
The Utility Advisory Board will talk more about a possible increase in electric rates during their meeting in March.
