A former NIU police officer has filed a lawsuit against the university and 4 officers following a sexual assault case.
Charges were eventually dismissed against 24-year old Andrew Rifkin due to information being withheld in the case by the university's police department.
Rifkin was fired from the NIU police department in October of 2011 the same day the alleged victim brought up the allegations.
He is seeking more than $50,000 in damages from the NIU Board of Trustees along with former NIU Police Chief Donald Grady and 3 other officers. Grady is currently on administrative leave.
