Flagg-Rochelle Park Board meeting

The affiliation agreement with several organizations, a proposal from Hillcrest officials, along with the restoration project for Skare park topped the discussion last night for officials in Rochelle.

The park board has decided to suspend the affiliation agreement for 1 year dealing with organizations who use the district's facilities. Park District Executive Director Eric Christensen said that each group will have their own agreement next year.

The board heard a presentation from Hillcrest Village Board President Kim Whalen. She would like to see Hillcrest Park and Powers Park upgraded in the future which would include water and sewer, a shelter, and some playground equipment. She would also like some work done at Flanagan Park which is near the village. No final decisions were made by park officials last night.

The board did approve the intergovernment agreement with the Rochelle Elementary School district dealing with the "Hub Project" for students. They also approved the restoration master plan for Skare Park. This includes disc golf this spring.

The board also approved a consultant's contract for just over $15,000 dealing with handicap accessibility at all of the facilities in the park district.

Park officials met in executive session to talk about personnel and the purchase of land. No action was taken.
