Three Rockford police officers are cleared in the shooting death of 18-year old Logan Bell. The officers shot Bell last October after receiving a call that he was suicidal and that he had a gun. Bell initially ran from police but later displayed, and fired, a CO2 pellet gun at them, which the officers thought was a handgun. One officer tripped and fell to the ground but the others fired back at Bell, thinking he'd shot the officer. The Winnebago County Integrity Task Force completed its standard investigation and a grand jury later declared the officers' actions were justified.
1 of the officers in the shooting was Sergeant Andre Brass who grew up in Rochelle. The other officers were Phillip Statler and Jeremiah Cizerle.
