A Sterling man received his 2nd life sentence in prison on Wednesday following a murder which took place in the summer of 2008.
33-year old Nicholas Sheley was found guilty last November in the killing of 93-year old Russell Reed of Sterling. He also received a sentence of 30 years in the Department of Corrections for home invasion and 15 years for residential burglary
Sheley had requested for a new trial in the case which was denied yesterday by the judge.
The Sterling resident was also convicted in the murder of a Galesburg man last year and received a sentence of life in prison.
Sheley has also been charged with 4 killings which took place in Rock Falls and the murder of an Arkansas couple in Missouri during his killing spree in the summer of 2008.
