Illinois Republicans want chairman to resign

Members of the Illinois Republican Party are calling for the ouster of state chairman Pat Brady for his personal support of legalizing gay marriage. Political blog "The Illinois Review" says the state Republican Central Committee may have the votes to oust Brady, citing several state lawmakers and county committees who have called for Brady's ouster. Brady urged GOP legislators to support the gay marriage proposal during the final days of the recently concluded lame duck session of the Legislature. At l;east one big name Republican is still in Brady's corner. U.S. Senator Mark Kirk issued a statement of support for the state chair, saying he had, quote, "full confidence" in Brady's leadership of the party.
