The 98th general assembly of the Illinois House and Senate have officially been sworn in. Lawmakers will get busy reintroducing bills on big ticket items, including gay marriage, concealed carry, and pension reform. Democratic leaders will keep their top spots. Michael Madigan was reelected as Speaker of the House for his 15th term. John Cullerton will keep his seat as Senate President, in his third term. Democrats have super majorities in both chambers, which means they won't need any Republican support to pass legislation.
