The Rochelle Elementary School District is scheduled to begin a program on January 14th dealing
with "at-risk" students. The after school project will have up to 350 students who are having trouble in the classroom.
Known as "The Hub Project", the students will receive help in improving their grades and test scores along with developing the child's social and emotional characteristics.
The 22 classrooms will be located in May, Central, and the Middle School. Parents of the children are encouraged to get involved with the program.
During the next 5 years, the program will be paid for through the 21st Century Community Learning Center grant for the district.
More than 30 area organizations will be involved with "The Hub Project". The list includes the Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District, Rochelle Community Hospital, along with Kishwaukee Community College and NIU.
