A Dixon woman has filed a federal charge with the National Labor Relations Board against a Rochelle industry for allegedly violating her rights.
Karen Cox is a current employee with Americold Logistics.
Last June, an tentative agreement was reached between the United Food and Commercial Workers Union along with the company. A contract agreement has yet to be reached.
Cox has begun a campaign to remove the union from Americold. The company allegedly denied her the same access it granted union organizers, prevented her from giving information on the downsides of the proposal, and asking workers to sign a petition against the union.
The charges alleged that Americold Logistics is discriminating against workers like Cox and giving union organizers unlawful support. Cox is getting legal assistance from the National Right to Work Foundation based in Virginia.
Illinois does not have Right to Work protections for employees. 24 states do have this protection.
