An assessment hearing will take place later this year for the Exelon nuclear power plant in Byron dealing with the value of the facility.
The 4-year deal between the company and 12 Ogle County taxing bodies comes to an end this year.
The 2008 figure set the value of the nuclear power plant at 468 million dollars. The new assessment of the facility totals 486.7 million dollars.
Exelon officials believe their plant is valued at 284.4 million dollars.
This year, Exelon will pay 29.6 million dollars in property taxes on the area in question. The will also pay $930,500 on additional property at the plant in Byron.
