New law in 2013 for teens and alcohol

Illinois is cracking down on parents that let their kids drink at home. The new social host law begins January 1st and will make it a misdemeanor to let your teens drink alcohol. Sue Hofer with the Illinois Liquor Control Commission says you'll also get fined at least 500 dollars. If the teen drinking results is someone getting hurt or killed, parents could face a felony. Hofer says they already crack down on places that sell alcohol to kids and many kids are finding other ways to get their booze. She says the new law does protect parents that don't know about the drinking and those that have taken steps to prevent kids from getting alcohol.
