In a sad note in the news today, Ron Hansen of Rochelle passed away on Thursday at the Rochelle Rehabilitation Center. He was 85 years old.
Ron attended grade school in Rochelle and graduated from RTHS in 1946. He also received the Hackett Award for excelling in sports. He was also inducted into the RTHS Sports Hall of Fame in 2004.
Hansen was a former police officer in Rochelle and also served on the Zoning Committee. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW Post 3878, and Golden K Kiwanis Club where he received the Hixson Award in 2000.
Ron's biggest love other than his family, friends, and RTHS Hubs were the Chicago Bears. He was a season ticket holder for 65 years.
A memorial service for Ron Hansen will take place at 7 on Monday evening, January 7th at the Rochelle United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 5 until 6:45 that evening prior at the church prior to the Memorial Service.
Ron his survived by his wife Leota, 3 daughters along with several grand children and great grand children.
