Snow amounts vary in the area as the 1st winter storm traveled through Northern Illinois yesterday.
High winds has caused problems today with slick roads and power outages.
East of Mt. Morris in Ogle County got a break from the snow as less than an inch is on the ground. There are reports of between 3 to 5 inches of snow in the Forreston area and more west of the village.
The city of Rockford is reporting about 4 inches of snow from the storm. Rochelle got less than a half inch on the ground.
Many rural roads remain slick this morning due to ice and snow on the pavement.
Officials from ComEd say that nearly 25,000 customers were without power early this morning between Freeport, Rockford, and Dixon. Crews are out trying to correct the problem due to the high winds and ice on the wires.
