Interviews involving the 3 candidates for the Ogle County State's Attorney's position will take place today in Oregon.
An Ad Hoc Committee that consists of Ogle County Board Chairman Kim Gouker of Byron, Vice Chairman John Finfrock of Mt. Morris along with board members Bill Welty of Chana and Bruce McKinney and Greg Sparrow of Rochelle will handle the interviews in closed session.
The candidates include Mike Rock who currently works in the State's Attorney's office, former Associate Judge Robin Minnis, and attorney Eric Morrow who at 1 time worked in the State's Attorney's office and is also a public defender for criminals.
The county is looking for a replacement for Ben Roe. He will be sworn in as the new Circuit Judge in the 15th Judicial Circuit on January 7th.
Following the interviews, the committee plans to make a recommendation to the Ogle County board when they meet next Tuesday in Oregon.
The person appointed as State's Attorney in Ogle County will hold the position for 2 years since Roe was recently re-elected last month to a 4-year term.
There will also be a special election for the final 2 years of the term during the General Election on November 4th, 2014.
