Rochelle police continue their home invasion investigation

Rochelle police continue to investigate a home invasion incident which occurred Monday evening at 417 Avenue "D".

Chief Eric Higby said that the victim had answered the door at her home as a white woman holding a small child was at the residence. She had asked to use the phone as her child was apparently sick.

The local woman allowed the female suspect into her living room. The victim then put her dog into another room.

When she returned, the woman was attacked by a black male subject holding a knife.

The woman was then forced into the bedroom and tied up and gagged.

She did receive a cut to her throat. The victim was taken by ambulance to Rochelle Community Hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury. .

Police say a small amount of money was taken during the incident. Nothing else is missing from the home. No arrest has been made at this time.

The victim was found by a family member who then called police.

Illinois State police are assisting in the investigation with their crime scene unit.

Local police have received several tips as the investigation continues. If you have any information about the incident, call 562-2131.

Rochelle police also advise that local residents not to allow strangers into your home.
