In a 13-11 vote last night, Kim Gouker of Byron was elected as the new Chariman of the Ogle County Board.
Gouker was 1st elected on the county board back in 1996. He has recently been the Chairman of the finance and insurance committee.
Gouker talked about his goals for the board to Newstalk 1060. He said that everyone will need to work together in the future and run the county as a business.
He also said that they must have communication between the 24 county board members.

Lyle Hopkins of Polo was also nominated for the position. The vote was 12-12. Donald Griffin of District 5 voted for both candidates.
John Finfrock of Mt. Morris was elected as Vice Chairman to the board in a 17-7 vote. Also nominated for the position was Marcia Heuer of Oregon who is now the former Vice Chair Person.
Terms for the county board members were also determined last night. The following officials have 4 year terms:
**Dick Petrizzo, Zachary Oltmanns, William Welty, Jerry Brooks, Ashley Simms, Greg Sparrow,
Skip Kenney, John O'Brien, Marty Typer, Don Griffin, Kim Gouker, Dorothy Bowers, John Finfrock,
Ron Colson, Patricia Saunders, and Marcia Heuer
The 2-year terms went to: Kimberly Kirkolis, Patricia Nordman, Bobbie Colbert, Bruce McKinney,
Dan Janes, Lee Meyers, Rich Gronewold, and Lyle Hopkins
The committee assignments will be finalized later this month. The dates and locations will remain the same.
Each individual was sworn-in last night by Judge Robert Hanson before the organization meeting began.
Also last night, Rick Ketchum of Amboy was elected as the Chairman of the board in Lee County.
He replaces Jim Seeberg who did not seek re-election
