City officials in Rochelle plan to have a study completed to see if it is feasible to have fiber installed at homes in the community.
The Rochelle Utility Advisory board made the recommendation to the council yesterday due to the recent money brought in by the Business and Technology facility.
City Manager David Plyman said the city would like to compete against Comcast and Frontier along with other companies for service in the 3,600 homes in Rochelle.
There are currently around 36 hundred homes in the Hub City. The study is expected to cost $35,000 and should be completed within 90 days.
