Ogle county officials approved the new fiscal year budget and appropriation last night as it was the final meeting for 12 of the board members. Each received a plaque for their service during the past years.
The General Fund totals 13.2 million dollars compared to 12.6 million dollars a year ago. The increase includes salaries and insurance costs.
The appropriation or the maximum number that could be spent totals 44.7 million dollars. Just over 10 million dollars of that figure is paying off bonds for the Judicial Center in Oregon.
In a 17-5 vote, the board approved the hiring of an architect for the new Sheriff Administration building in Oregon. The cost will not exceed just under $158,000.
County officials approved the cable contract with Comcast, but took no action on the electric aggregation issue with Ogle County along with the NITT agreement dealing with fiber optics.
Elizabeth Mendeloff of Byron was also reappointed to the Board of Health.
