Just about 160 local families will enjoy turkey and all the traditional trimmings at Thanksgiving this year because of all who were part of this year’s WRHL 2-Ton Food Drive at Anderson Plumbing. The line was long, stretching from Anderson’s 1st Avenue entry east almost to Lincoln School, but no one seemed to mind because of the beautiful warm, dry autumn weather Saturday.
Generous donors gave nearly $4,000 and a warehouse full of food. A large portion of the funds was used to purchase frozen turkeys from Sullivan’s Foods. Rochelle Christian Food Pantry Board members, Anderson Plumbing employees, and RTHS Silver Service Volunteers shorted, boxed and loaded in to grateful recipients’ cars.
