The Illinois unemployment rate is holding steady. State Department of Employment Security Spokesperson Greg Rivara says although the jobless rate remained at eight-point-eight percent, about 48-hundred jobs were added in Illinois last month, most of those in the education, health, leisure, and hospitality sectors. One thousand construction jobs were also added last month. Rivara calls it a significant improvement over last year, when the Illinois unemployment rate hit 10-percent in October of 2011.
