A ground breaking ceremony was held yesterday for a new 10,500 square foot retail strip center that will be located just west the Walmart store off Caron Road.
5 businesses have already committed to the project. They include U.S. Cellular, Great Clips, General Nutrition Center, Radio Shack, and Midwest Dental.
The developer is Xsite Real Estate who is based in LaGrange, Illinois. Vice president Brett Paul said they have been working on this project for about a year and a half.
Rochelle Chamber of Commerce and Business Development Director, Peggy Friday, said that the city knew Walmart would attract other retail companies in this location.
The project will be financed by the Holcomb State Bank.
The Shopping center is expected to be open in the summer of 2013.
Friday said that another ground breaking ceremony is expect soon in front of the Walmart store dealing with a commercial facility.
Paul said the final 2 tenants in the retail strip center will be announced in the near future.
