The Rochelle Elementary School District will be conducting an evacuation drill today in which students will be transported to RTHS.
School officials say that this is not a response to any new threat, but rather an extension of the yearly evacuation drills in the district. The Rochelle police and fire departments will be part of the event along with officials at RTHS.
The students will be taken to the high school and placed in appropriate evacuation locations for a period of time. They will then return to their school for the remainder of the day.
In case there was a real evacuation, parents will be notified through WRHL Radio along with the district's Alertnow calling system regarding the evacuation and pick-up information.
