It's day 5 of the murder trial for a Sterling man in Whiteside County.
33-year old Nicholas Sheley has been charged with the killing of 93-year old Russell Reed of Sterling in the summer of 2008.
Yesterday's witnesses included the doctor who did the autopsy on Reed. Dr. Scott Denton said that a blunt object was used on the body to create the wounds. Reed had 5 broken ribs along with brusies and dislocated bones.
A forensic expert also testified that Sheley's finger print was found on the window of Reed's car.
Testimony will continue today in Morrison. Sheley has already been convicted in the death of a Galesburg man during a killing spree in the summer of 2008. He received a sentence of life in prison.
Sheley was also arrested and charged with 6 murders which occurred in Rock Falls and in Southern Illinois during the summer of 2008.
