One man is dead after an early morning stand-off with Rockford police. Authorities responded to a domestic violence report at a home on Montague Street around six thursday morning. When they got there, a 31-year old man answered the door holding a knife and shielding himself with a child. Police used pepper spray on the man when he refused to put the knife down. He allegedly wiped the pepper spray off, put a plastic bag over his head, and charged at police with the knife, prompting the officers to fire. An investigation in ongoing.
