A new report released this week indicated that 66 percent of Illinois schools failed to meet adequate yearly progress. The standards are set under the federal NO Child Left Behind Act.
Nearly 70 percent of the school districts in the Rockford area failed. Only 11 high school in Illinois passed the standards set.
During yesterday's program "Let The People Know", Regional School Superintendent Amy Jo Clemens of Lee and Ogle Counties talked about changes that need to be made in the future for Illinois schools.
She also commented about a program dealing with national standards that school districts would follow in the future.
"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoons at 12:30 on Newstalk 1060 and re-broadcast Saturday mornings at 6 on Newstalk 1060 and Sunday mornings at 7 on SAM, 102.3FM.
