Area school report cards


Sixty-six-percent of Illinois' schools failed to meet Adequate Yearly Progress this year. Board of Education Chairman Gery Chico says the benchmarks set under the No Child Left Behind Act don't accurately reflect individual student progress. The state has applied for a waiver to the NCLB standards. Chico says the board would prefer to implement other ways to assess student success rather than do so on just a few days of testing.
