Jury selection is expected to be completed today in the murder trial for a Sterling man which took place in the summer of 2008. 3 alternates need to be picked.
8 men and 4 women have been chosen so far in the trial involving 33-year old Nicholas Sheley. He has been charged with 8 counts of 1st degree murder along with home invasion and residential burglary in the killing of 93-year old Russell Reed of Sterling.
Opening statements are expected next Monday in Whiteside County court.
Sheley is currently in prison on a life sentence for the murder of a Galesburg man in 2008. He has also been charged with 6 other killings which occurred in the summer of 2008 in Rock Falls and Southern Illinois.
