Jury Selection continues today in the trial of a Sterling man charged in the murder of a Whiteside County resident in 2008.
33-year old Nicholas Sheley has been charged with 8 counts of 1st degree murder along with home invasion and residential burglary in the killing of 93-year old Russell Reed of Sterling.
Sheley allegedly needed money to buy drugs in 1 of the motives behind the incident.
So far, 6 jurors have been picked this week for the trial, 3 men and 3 women. 6 more need to be selected along with 3 alternates.
Sheley is currently in prison on a life sentence for the murder of a Galesburg man in 2008. He has also been charged with 6 other murders during that summer which took place in Rock Falls and Southern Illinois.
Opening statements are expected next Monday in Whiteside County court.
