With only about 2 months left in 2012, the Ogle County Probation department is looking at a higher number of cases they have handled this year compared to 2011.
Many people believe that an increase in crime ties into a poor economy. During yesterday's program "Let The People Know", Ogle County Director of Court Services, Greg Martin, talked about the increase in cases through the probation department> He mentioned that the numbers were up in adults arrests but they saw a decline in juvenile cases.
Martin was joined on the program by the new Director at Focus House, Matt Mekeel. He said that the numbers are pretty consistent for the Ogle County program. The average between 20 to 25 teens at the facility.
About half of the teens at Focus House live in Ogle County. The remaining juveniles are from area counties which pay for the services.
"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoons at 12:30 on Newstalk 1060 and re-broadcast Saturday mornings at 6 on Newstalk 1060 and Sunday mornings at 7 on "SAM", 102.3FM.
